Orr Competes in AFBF Young Farmer & Rancher Discussion Meet Kacey Orr made her fellow West Virginians extremely proud as she competed in the national Young Farmers & Ranchers Discussion Meet at the 2014 American Farm Bureau Annual Convention. Orr, who produces 36 varieties of fruits and vegetables and raises chickens on her 30 - acre farm, is from Triadelphia in Ohio County. The Discussion Meet, which took place in January in San Antonio, Texas, features a series of discussions between young farmers and ranchers about various agricultural matters. The participants strive to build consensus while searching for solutions. Topics are provided for each round of the discussion. Participants are judged not only on subject knowledge and delivery, but how well they draw their fellow participants into the discussion. state event last November at West Virginia Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting. Topics discussed by the young farmers included the need for immigration reform, the proliferation of government regulations and the need for building relationships with legislators. Orr made it through the first round and into the Sweet Sixteen. She missed advancing to the Final Four by just one point. Though disappointed in the outcome, Kacey enjoyed the experience and was greatful for the opportunity to compete.
