WRITERS ABROAD MAGAZINE Before the Storm A Poem by Rilla Norslund Golden light under purple rain-pregnant sky, You want to shout, be brave, take a chance, it may not happen. Dance. Forget laws. Excuses, what’s the worst case? Jackfruit swell as green lungs breathe deep warm, humid air, if you dare. Soaking last light. Unity, all merge to one at night. Translucent yellow petals deepen against darkening sky. Dripping. It’s only day whispering Good bye. No one is going to die. Dhaka 2015 WA 34 | S e p t e m b e r 2 0 1 5
