Lauren started her first Face of America ride just three short years ago in the rain with no
training. Since completing the ride, however, Lauren hasn’t stopped cycling. She credits
the dynamic events and community of World T.E.A.M. Sports for getting her hooked.
“Being involved in this ride was one of the most life-changing experiences I’ve ever gone
through and ever been a part of. When I crossed the finish line the first time, my parents
were there in Gettysburg waiting for me, and my mom was crying watching everyone
finish together.”
Lauren’s commitment to World T.E.A.M. Sports goes beyond pedaling. She provides lunch
for the participants at selected D.C.– area events. Her restaurant, SUBWAY® of the Walter
Reed National Military Medical Center, keeps athletes full between stops on the road and

A long way from no training, she now arrives with specialized biking gear, chamois butter,
arm warmers, and even tissues and Advil to cover emergencies on the course. Plus, she’s
always fired up for the cause. “My passion is helping others, especially veterans.”
