Workshop(s) 2016 | Page 2

Dear Loyola Blakefield Community,

When Mr. Flanigan put out the call for the Editor-in-Chief, I had no real expectation of getting the position, but I went for it all the same. Now that the Creative Writing Honors class is part-way through the creating process for this year’s edition of Workshop(s), I admit that I feel slightly guilty, as my job is mostly telling others what to do. We have spent many class periods, reams upon reams of paper, more staples than I count, and several hours preparing the submissions for Mr. Ziegler and his Digital Media course. I’m excited to share the finished product with you now!

The student body sent in many excellent submissions, and my thanks goes out to all those who sent in their work. Unfortunately, space in the magazine is limited, and we were forced to reject some works. I’d like to ask those who did not get a piece in this year to try again with next year’s magazine, and I would like to extend my praises to those whose work did get in. These praises go particularly to our Creative Writing Contest winners: Alex Gloth (1st), Frankie Andrews (2nd), and Dennis Tadeo (3rd). These gentlemen produced fantastic, well-written works. I would also like to recognize Matthew Breiner, the recipient of this year’s Digital Award and the creator of our front-cover image.

I would also like to thank Mr. Flanigan, the man behind
