It’s fall
– a time of great excitement and as strange as it may sound, I find this time of year a rebirth period for my interests. (If you’re like me, you’ll find our women’s feature interesting!) It was in that spirit that we decided our 15th issue (where did that time go?!) was the perfect uneven number for updating our look. Obviously you noticed our new logo on the cover – and you’ll see a new look in our design as well. Be sure to also jet over to our website (www. wyolifestyle.com), where you’ll find a further new design. We hope you enjoy our updates – and don’t worry, our reader-driven content will never change. We will always take your suggestions and let it mold WLM into something that represents Wyoming and its people. Another aspect of fall is the idea of counting one’s blessings and being thankful. Many of our neighbors in the agriculture profession will be looking to their harvests and hopefully feeling very blessed. For those whose bounty comes in different packages, we hope that you will count it all joy. I encourage you to find the blessings in your everyday Wyoming life – for every grumble, find a reason to celebrate. It can be as simple as “Darn this wind…but look at that wide open view.” I realize that editor’s letters can be perceived as a space for hot air; the reason why I find it important and enjoy them in other magazines is that it gives me a perspective into the person/persons creating what I’m reading -- the human being(s) behind the page. We want you to look at us as your neighbors – because we are. We drive the same roads, feel the same wind, and live under the same flag. I want take a moment to express my gratefulness and familiarize you with someone who works every bit as hard as I do, although he doesn’t receive enough recognition – my husband, Levi. Levi is a geologist who locates and engineers water wells for Weston
Engineering, a firm based in Upton and Laramie. They work mostly with Wyoming water systems, from our towns to ranches and everywhere in between. They also help people whose systems have been compromised and are dealing with serious water problems. When I feel like my day is stressful, I remind myself that Levi is finding people safe drinking water – a basic human need. For that and the boundless energy he provides our family, I am in awe. He’s the president of our school PTA, a past state leader with Wyoming Job’s Daughters and is a Past Worshipful Master of Laramie Lodge #3. He comes home from the o?ce, makes dinner, checks homework and practices spelling words, then says, “What do you need for me to do with the business?” He makes our family click like clockwork, and I am forever grateful for him. Now that I’ve embarrassed him plenty, I’m going to close by encouraging you to find a grateful moment in all that you do. Resolve to have a beautiful fall. Try something new. Tell those around you how much they mean to you. And above all, smile. Remember, there are people all over the globe who have a desire to live in Wyoming. That’s a humbling thought. ‘Til next time,
