WLM Fall 2013 | Page 43

WLM | explore sure to check out Stan Dolega’s WIND CODE sculpture in front of the building (see page 44). The building, which celebrates its first anniversary of operation on September 24, has a lot to be proud of. The facility’s “green” components feature a roof system that minimizes “heat island effects”; on-site renewal energy systems include wind turbines and photovoltaic panels. The 26.6 acre site includes nearly one mile of walking trails, perfect for allowing everyone in the car (including Fido) to stretch their legs. The numbers speak highly to the visibility and interest of the facility as well. The facility will pass 100,000 visitors by its first anniversary -- visitation numbers from October 2012 through July 2013 were 99,810. It’s amazing to think of the impact this facility is making upon those who pass into our square state. When you’re next in the Cheyenne area, be sure to stop into the Southeast Wyoming Visitor Center. With museum quality exhibits, interactive displays and fascinating public sculpture in Stan Dolega’s WIND CODE, it’s a worthwhile stop for residents and visitors alike. This is a facility that demonstrates the remarkable, diverse nature of Wyoming – and is a symbol of pride in our state. W L M www.wyolifestyle.com 43
