WLM Fall 2013 | Page 42

WLM | explore 42 The Wyoming Department of Tourism is housed within the center, which is a celebration of quintessential Wyoming. Displays representing the four corners of Wyoming are impressive: a winter sports scene includes a snowmobile, skis suspended from the ceiling, and nearly life-sized trees; a paleontological dig site looks like the scientists just broke for lunch; and an outlaw display feels like one has stepped into the old west. A walkway illuminated with shimmering lights symbolizes Wyoming’s water ways and the recreation they afford. A giant mammoth skeleton similar to “Dee” (resident of Tate Geological Museum, Casper) greets visitors and serves as a representative of our rich prehistoric and geologic history. Interactive displays such as videos and a photo op behind bars with Butch Cassidy himself make this a welcome learning center for the family. One can only imagine how far “just visiting” pictures with Cassidy have spread across the globe. Be Wyoming Lifestyle Magazine | Fall 2013
