Union Grove dug deep and found their momentum in the third and fourth games by adjusting their defense against WSD, preventing the Lady Firebirds from winning the match outright. Union Grove finally won the match by winning the final game. WSD vs. St. Mary’s of Fairbault, Minnesota 25-18, 23-25, 15-12 In a four-team mini tournament in Minnesota, the Lady Firebirds faced St. Mary’s first. The teams traded points back and forth until senior Elizabeth Besaw put up four straight points including an ace. At one point in the game, WSD had the lead of 12-11. But MSAD gained momentum and won the game by seven points. MSAD came back in the second game by serving strong. WSD attempted to stop the Trojans’ strong serves by changing its defense but it was to no avail as the Trojans were able to steal the match from the Lady Firebirds.
