Looking Back
School Year 1951-1952
Mr. Donald Marks was in his rst year as a teacher and
coach at WSD while Jack Hathaway was in his last year as
a senior. Here are some highlights from archived Wiscosin
Times.
Donald Marks
Former WSD teacher, Donald Marks, passed away
September 12, 2013. He taught at WSD from 1951
to 1957. The Driver’s Education program was started
by Mr. Marks in 1955 as well as reviving the baseball
program in 1956. He was an assistant football coach
and an assistant Scoutmaster for the WSD Boy
Scouts. Both students and staff loved Mr. Marks as
he was very actively involved with the school. Mr.
Marks left WSD to go to Waukesha. His players said,
“He was a great teacher, a great coach, and a great
man.”

Jack Hathway
WSD Class of 1952 alum, Jack Hathway, passed
away February 19, 2012.
His son Ric and family wanted to honor Jack’s
love and support of WSD. They commissioned and
delivered a strong, red metal bench with Jack’s name
on it. The bench has been given a place of honor
along the circle drive near the new Chesebro Hall.
What a wonderful tribute from a son to his father.
Thank you to the entire Hathway family.
