Sixth Annual Berg/Seeger Classic: 2nd Place
WSD was invited to participate in the 6th annual Berg/
Seeger Classic tournament hosted by Minnesota
School for the Deaf in Fairbault. Berg/Seeger Classic
is a tournament consisting of nine schools for the
Deaf competing against each other in track and eld.
The boys’ team took second place overall. The 4x400
relay team of senior Julian Chairez, juniors Dakota
Bishop and Michael Lawson and sophomore Daniel
Romero took third place. The relay team of senior
Lennon Morrissey, juniors Anthony Lange and Jose
Zepeda-Amador, and sophomore Damon Hopp took
rst in the 4X100 and 2nd place in 4X200 relay.
Smashing over hurdles in the 100m and 300m, junior
Gunner Hahn won 1st and 2nd places respectively.
Sophomore Damon Hopp ran to a 3rd place nish in
the 400m dash and jumped to 3rd place in the triple
jump. The track and eld teams brought their best
game in this competition against other Deaf schools.

WSD Triathlon: 1st Place out of 4 teams
The Firebirds destroyed the competition by 30 points
over the 2nd place team at home. The mighty Firebirds
swept events in high jump, discus, and shot put.
Anthony Lange and Damon Hopp placed rst and
second respectively in triple jump. Gunner Hahn
took rst place in the 100m and 300m hurdles. Lange
placed second in the long jump. Tanner Evans and
Jose Zepeda-Amador placed 1st and 2nd in the 100m
dash while Damon Hopp won the 400m dash.
Boys WIAA Regional Tournament –
Burlington High School
Some track and eld athletes earned the opportunity
to compete in the WIAA regional tournament at
Burlington High School. Only the athletes who are
in the top four in their events can advance to WIAA
Sectionals. Junior Gunner Hahn won the 100m hurdles
and second place in 300m hurdles. Senior Lennon
Morrissey closed his career at WSD with a bang by
earning third place in 4x100m relay along with Jose
Zepeda-Amador, Anthony Lange, and Damon Hopp.
Jumping his way to fourth place, junior Anthony
Lange advanced to the sectionals in triple jump.
Boys WIAA Sectionals – Princeton
Top three nishers in their events advance to the
WIAA State Tournament. Only one Firebird was able
to make it, placing fourth in 100m hurdles: junior
Gunner Hahn. Morrissey, Zepeda-Amador, Lange, and
Hopp placed eleventh in the 4x100m relay to close the
Firebirds’ track and eld season.
