Valentine’s Day 2013
In anticipation of Valentine’s Day, elementary students made
their own valentine mailboxes and displayed them outside their
classrooms. By February 14th, they could hardly wait to open up their
boxes and see all their valentines.
Students gathered in the Round Room to
open their cards and thank their friends
and staff.
When it was time for the Valentine’s
Dance, students entered the Round
Room looking dazzling and dapper in
their ‘Sunday best.’ Due to a shortage of
boys, Milton Lee and a few of the dads
graciously escorted their daughters into
the dance.
The former Valentine Court crowned
the new Valentine King, Queen, Prince
and Princess: Jaeden, Tao, Lawson, and
Karibella, respectively. The new King
and Queen and the new Prince and
Princess enjoyed their ‘First Dance’ then

Coral Reefs
After learning about coral reefs in Alyson Urdahl’s fifth grade class, students were asked to create a reef from
materials around campus. Once construction was completed, the model was displayed in the classroom for all
to see. In addition to the model, students researched information on the Internet for the purpose of creating a
diorama (a three-dimensional model) to demonstrate what they learned. Students also drew costume ideas for a
play they wrote together about coral reefs. A performance was enjoyed by the other elementary classes.
