WSD vs Missouri Deaf 43-45
The Firebirds opened the Great Plains Schools for the Deaf tournament in Sulphur, Oklahoma, with a loss to
Missouri Deaf. The Firebirds sped to a 6 point lead by halftime but the Eagles were able to come back and beat
the Firebirds in the fourth quarter. Sophomore Damon Hopp went on a tear, scoring 19 points while sophomore
Zominique Walker shot two 3-pointers. Although the teams were evenly matched statistically, Missouri was
able to win by just two points.
WSD vs. Oklahoma Deaf 35-53
WSD vs Kansas Deaf 38-30
Despite a crushing loss from the Missouri Eagles, the Firebirds
came alive in the consolation bracket of the GPSD tournament
by beating the Kansas Jackrabbits by 8 points. Sophomore
Zominique Walker led the team with 6 steals and 12 points. Senior
Lennon Morrissey was in the middle of the action with 11 points
and 5 steals. Sophomore Damon Hopp provided steady leadership
for the Firebirds with 10 boards, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 8 points.
The Firebirds faced the hosts of the GPSD
tournament and lost the starting match.

hand with 13 points, 7 boards and 4 steals.
Junior Tanner Evans got his shooting going
by scoring 8 points while junior Anthony
Lange contributed 4 points to the cause.
Wisconsin and Oklahoma fought
closely throughout the game
until Oklahoma pulled away in
the 4th quarter. Wisconsin ended
up with 6th place in the GPSD
tournament.

WSD vs Union Grove Christian 40-54
As the Firebirds were still reeling from the long GPSD
tournament, they took on Union Grove Christian.
At the end of first quarter, the teams were tied but
eventually Union Grove was able to pull away with
a win. Freshman Zachary Henry had a hot hand by
shooting four 3-pointers. Sophomore Damon Hopp
was a steady presence for the Firebirds by scoring 15
points and pulling down 9 rebounds. Senior Lennon
Morrissey had 5 assists.
WSD vs Rock County Christian 34-52
The Firebirds ended the season with a loss to Rock
County. Senior Markiese Mims led the team by
scoring 10 points. Damon Hopp, with 6 points and 12
rebounds, continued to exhibit growth in his game.
Junior Tanner Evans scored 9 points and grabbed 5
rebounds to close the season. The team was led by
Head Coach Michael Eldred and Assistant Coach Tom
Armato.
