A Fairy Tale Christmas Everyone worked hard in daily rehearsals to prepare for the annual holiday play. Students had great fun performing in their adorable costumes and seeing the smiles and laughter from the audience. The play, A Fairy Tale Christmas, by Craig Sodaro, was a unique combination of fairy tales with a modern twist that included the use of technology. An adorable addition to the creative set design was a collection of personalized dolls. The dolls were made in Susan Dupor’s art class and featured the costume of the character and a real photo of the students’ own faces! Due to hazardous weather, the play was postponed until the morning of January 10, 2013. A number of families were unable to attend the play due to the change of date, thus, it was videotaped, voice-over added and uploaded to the WSD Channel - found on the left column of WSD’s website: www.wsd.k12.wi.us. Queen and her cronies discuss their plans in the play, A Fairy Tale Christmas, by Craig Sodaro. The Joys of the Season The Lower Elementary students were squirming in their seats as we counted down the days until Christmas! Students celebrated the holidays with a number of festive classroom activities, signed Christmas classic stories such as Polar Express, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, and The Night Before Christmas. However, their favorite activity was the gift exchange. Each student drew the name of a lower elementary classmate. They learned about keeping a secret and not telling anyone the name of their secret pal. Each student purchased a special gift, wrapped it up and brought it in to put under our little Christmas tree. The pure delight on students’ faces as they opened their special gifts was priceless! To Owen from Tyler Calvin is SHOCKED! Daniel shows off his gi s from Lily. Winter 2013 - 4
