Will You Be My Valentine? The new King and Queen, Darius Payne and Madison Bongard. On Tuesday, February 14th at our annual Valentine’s Dance, elementary students, Lawson Vollmar and Jalila Martens were selected as prince and princess while Darius Payne and Madison Bongard were crowned King and Queen in the annual drawing of the Valentine’s Court. Students began this year’s Valentine Day’s activities by opening Valentines from their classmates. Next the boys escorted the girls into the Round Room where students danced the Two-Step, the Hokey Pokey, the Macarena, the Twist, and the Monkey. After students played the limbo, the party concluded with students making their own ice cream sundaes. Yum! Lucero enjoys reading her Valentines. Lily opens her Valentines. Paige and TJ dance. TJ shows off his limber Limbo moves! 100 Days of School Since the first day of school, in an effort to learn the concept of ‘one hundred,’ classrooms counted the days of school. On Tuesday, February 7th elementary students gathered in the round room to celebrate the 100th day of school. WSD’s ASL Specialists, Kathryn Harbison and Joel Mankowski storysigned books about 100. Students broke into groups to count 100 cereal loops and strung them into a necklace. They made headbands with 100 on the band; they jumped 10 times in 10 different ways, and they made a 100 booklet. Then, the countdown to Spring Break began! Cayden counted 100 pieces of spiral pasta. Spring 2012 - 4 Zachary Needs counting cereal on a 100 chart.
