In Sync!! Lyssa, Anna, and Jasmine show off their winning beat! WSD Basketball Cheerleaders 3rd CSSD Tournament, 1st GPSD Tournament, 1st Cardinal Classics During the basketball season, the cheerleading squad performed very well in three different tournaments. During the CSSD Tournament, the squad consisting of Veronica Duran, Anna McCartney, Chandre Kimble, Alexis Christ, Lyssa Matsche and Jasmine Perkins finished third. They were only a few points away from the championship. It was that close. Anna McCartney was chosen to be on cheerleading All-Star team. At the GPSD Tournament, the cheerleading squad grabbed the championship for the first time in 6 years! The squad consisted of all the above players in addition to KaYoua Xiong. They performed very hard and absolutely earned the championship. Anna McCartney was once again chosen to be on the cheerleading AllStar team. Because WSD cheerleading squad won the GPSD championship, the coach Amber Havers dyed her hair red in solidarity with her cheerleading squad. It was quite a sight to see Amber Havers’ hair red. The girls loved it. On February 25, the team planned to compete at State! Due to illnesses, they were unable to attend. WSD cheerleading squad rolled on to another amazing championship at the Cardinal Classic in Madison, Wisconsin. The squad consisting of Alexis Christ, Veronica Duran and Jasmine Perkins competed against hearing varsity cheerleading squads in their division. They made their moves and grabbed that championship trophy by defeating all hearing varsity teams. The achievement is a major public relations coup for WSD in that it shows Deaf players can do extremely well in anything and that WSD
