New Staff and Students by Brian Lievens, Dean Kemp and Maryann Barnett Shannon Swank is the residential program’s Behavior Specialist. She was hired to fill a position that was vacant for several years. As a student, Shannon attended Powers School for the Deaf before transferring to the Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD). After graduating from the ISD, she went on to study at Gallaudet University earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her master’s degree is in developmental psychology. She also has earned a post-masters specialist degree in school psychology at Gallaudet. California School for the Deaf – Fremont was her assigned post for a year internship. WSD is Shannon’s first job experience. Shannon thinks the world of WSD. She stated, “I’m very happy to be here at WSD to work with wonderful students and staff. I don’t think I would have experienced a place like this had I taken a job e
