Homecoming 2011 By Lori Lindau and Maryann Barnett Our Firebirds in Training: Emily Koehn, Lillian Squires, Lily Jersen, Jordan Gatch, and Mia Eldred. Seniors show off their spirit on Pajama Day. Laela Chapin using ASL to describe a fire breathing Firebird. Ellie Lister has fantastic Firebird spirit! Everyone has a favorite team on sports day! Spirit Week A wacky and fun-filled week always preceeds homecoming. The students and staff enjoy wearing specific clothing that can be silly, colorful, or even animal prints! Monday was Pajama Day. Some students wore shorts and T-shirts while several creative students wore long johns with feet. Tuesday was sports themes. Packers and Brewers and Cubs and Bears filled the hallways. Wednesday was a vividly noticeable day with each class in a different color: Freshmen wore green, sophomores wore pink, and juniors were seen in blue while seniors dressed in black. In addition, staff wore purple. Thursday had a new twist. Students wore various animal prints and/or dressed as an animal. Friday of course was the traditional red and white school Colors Day. The gymnasium was a sea of red and white with all students and staff showing support during the afternoon Pep Rally. The fifth graders teach elementary students and staff to polka.
