What is adventure learning ? our theory of change in action

Adventure comes in many forms . The children and young people we work with range from two-year-olds to teenagers becoming adults .
Our Theory of Change sets out the journey that children and young people take when they experience Adventure Learning at Wide Horizons . From the issues they face before they arrive at one of our centres , to the positive impact it has on their future .
Along this journey is our Adventure Learning model ( see Step 2 – What We Do To Help ), the framework we use when devising our Adventure Learning programmes . Different ages and abilities require very different experiences , but this model ensures that every child or young person that comes to Wide Horizons has an enriching experience and a positive impact on their lives .

The CHALLENGES
Children and young people face many challenges growing up :
• Increasing numbers of children living in poverty
• A real gap in the academic attainment between poor and better-off children
• Rising numbers being affected by mental health problems
• A growing disconnect with nature
