It’s a website.
It’s your guide to everything
great going on in 2017.
n 2017, Canada turns 150. It’s going to
be a busy year, filled with thousands
of celebrations marking the 150th
anniversary of Confederation. Passport
2017—an event discovery website
and free app—is your gateway to it all.
Passport’s daily stream of stories and
event recommendations will guide you
all year long to activities and festivities
relevant to your interests. It will tell the
tales of Canadians and their connections
to the country through interviews and
insights culled from the everyday hoser
to the highest levels of celebrity. It will
celebrate Canadian achievements and
righteously defend our cultural curiosities.
(Hickory Sticks, anyone?) And it will
showcase some of the coolest projects
on the go. Here’s a Passport sampling of
Canada 150 events coming your way in
2017, from 360-degree films to a national
snowball fight challenge.
InnovatIon 150
Nerds, rejoice! This year, Canada will
be overrun by travelling science exhibits,
city-wide festivals, an inspiring speaker
series and more. Innovation 150, a
collaboration between five of the country’s
leading scientific organizations—the
Perimeter Institute for Theoretical
Physics, Actua, the Institute for Quantum
Computing at the University of Waterloo,
the Canada Science & Technology
Museums Corporation and the Canadian
Association of Science Centres—will
highlight Canada’s many contributions to
the scientific community. The year-long
festivities are set to kick off in January
with the Power of Ideas National Tour,
an immersive experience on engaging
with science, and Quantum, a travelling
exhibition on quantum information science
and technology. innovation150.ca
