Lynn LaRose How often do you paint? How many hours a week? Since I retired about 2.5 years ago, I paint about 5 days a week. When painting on site, I usually get a painting done in 3 hours. Sometimes I paint a morning painting, go have lunch and finish the day at another site for an afternoon painting. While in the studio I can paint 6-8 hours while the time flies by. How would you like to be remembered? Joyful. I am passionate about art. My venture to be the best artist that I can be comes with it’s share of struggles and failures. I welcome these challenges as a part of life, but at the same time I want to be joyful in everything I do. How do you know when a painting is finished? I don’t. I have to make myself step away before I pick it to death. What is the most inspirational place you have visited to date? The Grand Canyon. I cried. It was there that I felt the presence of God like never before. Where would you take your dream vacation? My husband has taken me many places, but I would like to go to Utah and paint. We drove through there one time, but I want to go back and spend some time, this time with my easel. What brings you the most joy in your life? My daughter, Worth. She is such an inspiration with her talent and her music. I’d rather spend the day with her than any other thing. She is away at college, but not too far where we can’t break away and spend time together. If you could talk about art with a deceased master artist, who would it be? Van Gogh. I’ve got some questions for him. I ready the book “Dear Theo” which is a compilation of his letters to his brother. To be able to sit with the artist that painted the wind would be a wonderful thing. Tell us something that few people know about you. I’m originally from Alabama and am a huge Alabama football fan. ROLL TIDE ROLL. Any other thoughts to share? So honored to have won first place in this show. My painting, “Chevaliers” was from a photo I took in San Diego. laroseart.com 36
