Hammersmith Academy
S
tudents and staff at Hammersmith Academy (HA) celebrate their third year
of successful A Level and BTEC results. Students excelled across the
entire range of subject areas, with 15% of students being awarded the
highest level of A*/A or equivalent. Particularly excellent performances were seen
in Geography, Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Art, Performing Arts, IT and Sociology.
Headteacher, Gary Kynaston: “The consistent performance of the students at
Hammersmith Academy continues to amaze me. To see so many students fulfil
their ambitions which is a result of the shared hard work between the
students, their teachers and their families. This cohort of students have come a
long way in a short period of time and I am particularly proud that over 90% of
them will be attending the University of their choice. On behalf of everyone at the
Academy, we wish them all the best in the future.”
The excellent results mean that students have secured places to study
courses such as Law, Physics, Maths, English, Biomedical science at highly
prestigious universities across the country, with many poised to attend Russell
Group universities such as Bath, Bristol, UCL & KCL.

t is has been an exciting year for the HA’s Design and Technology
department with the addition of a 3D printer purchased with a grant from
the WCIT Charity in 2014.
HA are introducing the printer slowly to a keen bunch of their afterschool
Engineering Club where they are building knowledge of the Cubify Invent and
Trimble SketchUp software and experimenting with small designs. In the
coming academic years, all Key Stage 3 & 4 students will learn the essentials
of 3D CAD/CAM software, with high attaining students being invited to join the
‘Young Engineers (STEM) Club’ to create their own 3D prototypes.
The 3D printer will be available to all GCSE Year 10 and 11 students both
during lessons and after school. Overall, the printer will be used to promote
the use of STEM education within the Design and Technology department.
The WCIT Charity is proud that your donations have enabled further
contribution towards improving the educational experience of Hammersmith
Academy students.

ammersmith Academy had a special visitor late September as The
Duke of Cambridge stopped by to take part in a #Back2School
anti-bullying campaign, organised by The Diana Award.
Ten students from the Academy took part in the workshops and had the
opportunity to spend some time with Prince William. The students had
previously completed a three-day workshop and had worked hard to
support each other to make sure students are clear
