Walkway Marathon: 2016 Digital Race Packet | Page 11

A Welcome from President Dennis J. Murray It’s a pleasure to welcome you to Marist College and our scenic and historic Hudson River Valley. In particular, I’m delighted to welcome all of the athletes participating in this second annual Walkway Marathon—your hard work will pay off! Over the past 36 years, I have been privileged to serve as president of Marist, and I have witnessed how the College has grown from a local institution to one with an international reputation for excellence. Marist has always been a highly engaged member of our community, and we take great pride in hosting the start and finish of this grand event with thousands of athletes and their support teams. As you have trained for and planned your race, Marist has been working with Walkway Over the Hudson and Marathon partners Dutchess County Government, Dutchess Tourism, the Mid-Hudson Road Runners Club, and many others to bring the Walkway Marathon to fruition. The Hudson River Valley is one of the most magnificent locations in America, and there is no better vantage point from which to enjoy the beautiful scenery than from the Walkway Over the Hudson. Best wishes for a great race and an enjoyable stay in our region. Again, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to Marist. Sincerely, Dennis J. Murray President Dear Participant, Welcome to the 2nd Annual Walkway Marathon and New York State’s first green marathon! Royal Carting Service Company is excited to be a part of this wonderful event that will bring many athletes and guests to Dutchess and Ulster Counties from all over the country. The Walkway is a jewel in the Hudson Valley’s crown and the marathon will introduce these visitors to our beautiful river valley, historic attractions, fabulous restaurants, and the special people that make our home such a great place to live and work.. For those who are not familiar with our company, Royal Carting is a local family-owned company providing residential and commercial trash removal and recycling services for over 40,000 Hudson Valley residents. Royal Carting has been supporting community events such as this since its inception in 1955 as a concerned and responsible corporate neighbor. The Walkway Marathon is particularly meaningful to our company because of the “Green” Initiative and our participation on the Green Team. The marathon organizers asked participants to think about the resources we consume every day in the most ordinary ways; registering online and using public transportation are just a few ways we can reduce our footprint. Royal Carting also welcomed the opportunity to provide education about its efforts toward trash reduction, recycling and reuse technologies and practices, and composting organic materials. We hope that sharing information about Royal Carting and our commitment to the community will explain how Royal became, and remains, the leading solid waste and recycling service provider in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Congratulations to everyone participating in this year’s race. We hope to see you back in Dutchess County soon! Sincerely, Evelyn Constantino H G RS O VE NE RN MENT T IN PA R IP W IT H D UTC H ESS CO UN TY
