VPHS Special Tea-Morning for Old Victorians (1940-1960) Early Victorians enjoying their tea being addressed by Adam Bage Aubrey Billson, former Head Boy and the first Victorian to score a century in cricket, with Davina Coombs and Bob Pretorius. The first special gathering of this nature for this elite group took place in 2010 on the occasion of the school’s 70th birthday celebrations. Meeting after many years brought about the awareness of how enjoyable such an occasion was and it was decided to make this an annual event. This gives old scholars of Victoria Park the opportunity to relay old school stories, share a joke and recap moments of sadness and nostalgia. For some folk this is their only opportunity to visit their old place of schooling and hear a personal account from the Headmaster regarding the way forward in education as well as the vast improvements at Victoria Park. We would love to see more Victorians having the opportunity to attend this very special event. Martintha du Preez Jeanette Bushby and Val de Koning 48
