VPHS Ms Paulet Meyer 10 Years “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made in the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” sen Park High School where she spent 13 happy and fulfilling years until she was redeployed to Victoria Park High. Here she has found her niche and has immersed herself in a varied and vast array of extra-mural activities. Over the years she has managed a hockey team, a boys’ soccer team and was even roped into athletics! This quote by Nelson Mandela is one which my dear friend and colleague, Paulet Meyer, says “resonates” with her and inspires her to make a difference in the lives of others, particularly the learners whom she teaches. It was in fact her English and History teacher whose passion and commitment prompted her to gravitate towards teaching - she initially wanted to be a lawyer! Just as Mr Brown had an impact on her life, so she has used her special gift to share knowledge, to help unlock her learners’ potential. She loves all game shows such as “the Weakest Link” and “Who wants to be a Millionaire” because she “has a passion for all things trivial” and it is therefore not surprising that she became the teacherin-charge of quiz. She set herself the task of building a formidable team, a goal which she has undoubtedly attained. Memorab le highlights include the 2005 team’s reaching the quarter finals of the HERALD quiz (the best VP had ever done), and VP’s victory in the inter-schools’ Varsity College Quiz Competition for the past 3 years.
