VPHS Staff Report of the year was when the First Team Hockey Girls came to support her from the stands on the last day of the Master’s Tournament. Victoria Park High School is blessed with a diverse and busy staff, not only professionally but socially. This year has proven no different as many VPHS staff-members found love, achievement and what lies beyond the horizon. Mrs Genevieve Cotton has recently been selected as the manager for the Eastern Province under nineteen Girls Cricket team. She will be travelling to Mbombela for the national week in December. Mr Adrian Ryan was selected this year to umpire the South Africa versus Australia under eighteen hockey series in Durban during the July holidays. This decision came after doing well in his umpiring in Pretoria in June for the USA versus South Africa Men’s A section. In this particular tournament Mr Ryan was third umpire for the semi-final. Mr Ryan has been umpiring for ten years and feels that this is a step in the right direction for him to achieve his goal of one day umpiring at the Olympic Games. Mrs Angelique Jennings has also had a busy year. Mrs Jennings was re-elected in May to the SAFA/ NMB Regional Executive Council. She was also the HOP Marketing Inter LFA Tournament Director for 2014. In addition, Mrs Jennings’ Aids Caring Committee (ACC) was awarded first prize for the Health and Wellness School Award at the NMB Awards 2013, making ACC and Mrs Jennings the Health and Wellness Champions for 2013. Still on the hockey front, First Team Girls Hockey coach, Ms Brigitte Kohne is now a proud member of the Eastern Province Masters A Side after many years of playing club hockey. She says the highlight Mr Retief van der Merwe completed his B.Ed Honours Degree and graduated in April 2014. Congrat- 22
