VPHS
Staff Report
of the year was when the First Team Hockey Girls
came to support her from the stands on the last day
of the Master’s Tournament.
Victoria Park High School is blessed with a diverse
and busy staff, not only professionally but socially.
This year has proven no different as many VPHS
staff-members found love, achievement and what
lies beyond the horizon.
Mrs Genevieve Cotton has recently been selected
as the manager for the Eastern Province under nineteen Girls Cricket team. She will be travelling to
Mbombela for the national week in December.
Mr Adrian Ryan was selected this year to umpire the
South Africa versus Australia under eighteen hockey series in Durban during the July holidays. This
decision came after doing well in his umpiring in
Pretoria in June for the USA versus South Africa
Men’s A section. In this particular tournament Mr
Ryan was third umpire for the semi-final. Mr Ryan
has been umpiring for ten years and feels that this
is a step in the right direction for him to achieve his
goal of one day umpiring at the Olympic Games.
Mrs Angelique Jennings has also had a busy year.
Mrs Jennings was re-elected in May to the SAFA/
NMB Regional Executive Council. She was also the
HOP Marketing Inter LFA Tournament Director for
2014. In addition, Mrs Jennings’ Aids Caring Committee (ACC) was awarded first prize for the Health
and Wellness School Award at the NMB Awards
2013, making ACC and Mrs Jennings the Health
and Wellness Champions for 2013.
Still on the hockey front, First Team Girls Hockey
coach, Ms Brigitte Kohne is now a proud member
of the Eastern Province Masters A Side after many
years of playing club hockey. She says the highlight
Mr Retief van der Merwe completed his B.Ed Honours Degree and graduated in April 2014. Congrat-
