VPHS ly when I announced Jonovane September as our centre back. I would like to mention that he has excelled in the role and has received a first team call up as well as being watched by Wits. commanding defence at the back was at times very visible in our league games. The end result of the league games was not as great as expected and we ended up winning only half of all the matches we played. Bloemfontein’s Brebner High School Tournament was a very successful tour. We narrowly missed out in the latter stages of the tournament. I was nevertheless a very proud coach. The U/16 team showed great enthusiasm during practices and worked incredibly hard for each other. It was a privilege and joy to manage this team and certainly a team of which Victoria Park can be proud. Thanks go to Mr. Isaac Nene who put his heart and soul into coaching this team. In the school league in PE, the boys only dropped 2 points all season; drawing with Lawson Brown and winning every other match. There were many memorable moments, but I believe beating Alex 8-0 on Derby Day in front of a packed VPHS stand was a great experience. If the boys continue to play like that they will never be beaten until they leave school. As I keep telling them: “Consistency is the key.” Mr E. Hüsselmann U 15 Lastly, I would like to thank the boys. Chaps, it has been a very enjoyable experience and you have made my job as a coach very easy. When I arrived at VPHS I explained that if you listen well and train hard we will have a good time. If you didn’t, it would have been a very miserable season for us all.
