Despite the results, we had a wonderful time playing
good cricket and encouraging each other throughout
the season. There was an awesome sense of team
spirit and I am looking forward to seeing how these
young men fare in their cricketing futures.

Our season started off satisfactorily, with our batsmen doing well. As expected, batsmen with the
power of Chadley Smith and the technical ability
of Jordan Dawson helped us score runs easily. As
the season progressed, however, we found it more
and more difficult to score runs. Batsmen gave their
wickets away by playing incorrect shots and making
unwise decisions. We rregularly let ourselves downby pressurising our opening batsmen and making
small totals, thereby putting unnecessary pressure
on our bowlers to either limit our opposition’s batsmen to a small total, or to get wickets quickly.
Despite some inconsistent performances, each and
every match had moments of magic and triumph.
Top class catches were taken and amazing athleticism was shown by Matthew Nell, Charlton Bowers
and Matthew Potgieter. These boys were not afraid
to skin their knees, elbows or any other part of their
bodies to stop the ball from getting past them.
We were, as has been the case for many years, fortunate enough to have the majority of the team able
to bowl well. It often suited us, as we could choose
our bowling attack based on the opposition’s batting
style, the weather, the pitch and the outfield conditions. Ashley Howe proved to be the most consistent
bowler, with an exceptional average of 2.86 R.P.O..
Jordan Dawson was our left arm off-spinner, picking up wickets by changing the pace of the ball, applying varying degrees of spin and flight and being
an incredibly intense bowler. Batsmen that made the
difference for us were Chadley Smith, Jordan Dawson, and Charlton
