overs. The only bowler that really seemed to trouble
the batsmen was Siphelele Sikweyiya who picked
up 4 wickets for 39 runs in 7 overs. VP did not
achieve the total, but they did manage to bat out the
full 35 overs, being bowled out for 124 off the last
ball of the innings. VP lost by 103 runs.

Our second win of the season came against Westering High School in a 20-over match. VP restricted
Westering to 84 for 9 in their 20 overs, Qhamani
Plaatjie taking 4 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs.
Timothy Duvenhage led VP to victory with the bat,
scoring a quick-fire 27 runs, VP reaching 86 for the
loss of 3 wickets in the 18th over. VP won by 7 wickets.
In what can be described as a perfect storm of potential, the u15A boys’ cricket team dominated most of
their opponents this year. With the likes of Keanon
Geldenhuys opening up the season with a powerful
113 century, this age group was set for a great season. With a combination of a winning attitude and
a bit of skill developed by Mr Ryan, we managed
to overcome Gamble Street, Alexander Road High
School and Nico Milan. Against all three schools,
we produced massive wins out of the five games
that we played.
The final match of the first term was against a school
called Mzontsundu. They batted first and were restricted to 88 all out in 21 overs. The top bowler
of the day was Christopher Plaatjies who picked
up 5 wickets for 45 runs in 7 overs. This is where
the big lesson was learnt for this season. Judging
the batting of the opponents, VP saw this total as
a below average score that could be achieved with
ease. However, with accurate and consistent bowling, Mzontsundu demolished the VP batsmen and
restricted them to a mere 60 all out. The lesson:
