VPHS Second Team .Avuyile Mayekiso – “Avu” Is a very energetic cricketer who adds a spark to an innings. He has grown tremendously as a batsman and is a very handy middle order batsman. Jody Solomon – “Jodz” Is a talented medium paced bowler who adds value to the team’s bowling attack. He has grown a lot and shows much potential in cricket in the future. Qamani Plaaitjie – “Qamza” Has provided many entertaining moments on and off the field. Never shying away from a challenge, Qamani keeps the vibe on the field going. He is a handy medium paced bowler. He is a very talented left arm off-spinner that can apply a lot of pressure on the opposition. The second team cricketers had their work cut out for them in the first term, facing some tough opponents to start with, then picking up a couple of wins and also learning some valuable lessons. Mr Marcel Pienaar The opening game was against Daniel Pienaar. They batted first, scoring a total of 126 all out. The top bowler for VP was Christopher Plaatjies with 3 wickets for 15 runs in 5 overs. VP were then in a commanding position at the drinks break, with 86 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of only 3 wickets. However, after the break, concentration levels were down and VP lost wickets very quickly and were bowled out for 105 runs in the 25th over. The best batsman was Siphelele Sikweyiya who scored 26 runs. VP lost by 21 runs. Our next encounter was against Pearson High School. VP batted first, scoring 63 all out. The top-scorer was Jade Kellmann with 21 runs. Pearson then responded with 65 for the loss of 1 wicket. VP lost by 9 wickets. The third match was against Alexander Road High School. VP dominated with the bat, scoring 193 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 35 overs. The chief-destroyer with the bat was Kyle Hodgkinson who smashed 109 runs off only 61 balls. Alexander Road were then bowled out for 152 runs in the 35th over. Wickets were shared between the bowlers, although mention must be made of Seth Berry who bowled with pace and accuracy at the top of the innings. VP won by 41 runs. Hoërskool Framesby were our next opponents. Framesby scored a massive 227 for 5 in their 35 184
