VPHS tain, Matthew Nell, at centre half to get the ball into the opposition’s half, our gameplay was characterised by crisp, short passes, one-twos, and running into space to receive the ball. Overall, we had a very successful season. When I refer to success, I allude to the kind that cannot be represented in a “Win/Loss” column. The boys learned a lot more about the game of hockey and themselves than they had anticipated and this was incredibly evident in their growth as players. Our side had a mixed season but an enjoyable one none the less. From the beginning of the season we constantly battled with consistency issues, but toward the end we became more confident in each other and played as a team, instead of as a group of individuals. A disciplined structure, coupled with the jovial camaraderie within the group, allowed us to enjoy a great year of hockey and personal growth. I would like to congratulate each and every boy in the team for making this year an enjoyable and successful one for all. Good luck and all the best for the future. Mr Adrian Ryan 158
