Last year we brought in the new high visibility jackets. This year our first aiders qualified not only to a level one or two, but fully qualified all the way to the third level, and at a price that would not break the piggy bank. We have had numerous injuries and enquiries, both on the sports fields and at the school throughout the year that all our first aiders handled with knowledge, care and discretion beyond their years. Even to the point where companies and corporations outside of VPHS have requested and paid for our students to first aid at their functions. First Aid is aimed at everyone, especially those that do not participate in a sport at derby days. In this way, every student can get involved and help in a manner that is definitely needed. Not only is first aid a valuable skill to have at school, but it is a life skill. This knowledge can help save a life in many situations. Emergency training is now included to help manage situations not just at school, but at home and on the road too. I look forward to the future of First Aid at VPHS with even more exciting plans in store for next year. Mrs Alydia Monteith 135
