VPHS
Redenaars
Victoria Park’s 2014 annual Afrikaans Redenaars
competition was again a huge success.
Doing public speaking in your first additional or
even second additional language is a difficult task,
as Mr. Potgieter often says. Even so, this didn’t scare
away the brave pupils, Gr. 8 to 12, who came and
presented the variety of topics ranging from funny
stories of Mr. Jansen’s class to serious matters about
technology and its impact on our lives.
In the Junior division, Danielle de Necker, in Gr.8,
gave a fantastic speech and was placed first. Excellent speeches were also given by the pupils placed
second and third.
Back Row: Salizwa Camagu, Isma-eel Langeveldt,
Christopher van Rooyen, Earl-Rae Hüsselmann,
Matthew Nell, Charl Alexander, Chrizelle Grobbelaar
Middle Row: Mellissa Elliott, Helena Jbonomali,
Lauren Wienand, Caylin Hambury, Liezel Boudrey, Jose
Jonas, Kayla Barends
In the Senior division, excellent speeches were given by Anouschka de Necker who was placed first,
Christopher van Rooyen and Earl-Ray Husselman
who were joint second and Charl Alexander who
was placed third.
Front Row: Caitlyn Bowers, Kaylin Cloete, Danielle de
Necker, Mr Potgieter, Anousckha de Necker,
Zandre Arnoldus, Husnaa Sampson
Thank you to our judges on the evening, Mrs. Truter, Mr. Potgieter and Mr Hüsselmann.
Well done to all those who participated and well
done to the top three in each division. We hope to
see even more participants next year.
Christopher van Rooyen.
