May 21, 2017 Sixth Sunday of Easter Views From The Pews 2 Did You Know? Michael writes in response to someone who told Views From the Pews that it’s none of the Pope’s business to urge the UN to ban all nuclear weapons. Here’s part of what Michael says. “It is not only the Pope’s business it is his duty...to stick his nose in this political matter, especially when it puts the entire living creatures in danger. The Pope has to set an example for all Christians that they should follow Jesus’s foot steps. Religious matters, political issues, and economics are all part of human life. Jesus did all these....Christians, especially Popes and Bishops...should and have the duty to speak up to protect human life, especially the life of the poor, the oppressed and the voiceless.” Michael also writes, “I enjoy listening to your homilies (OK! Most of them), even sometimes I do not agree with what you said.” “Thanks for your comments about the Pope’s responsibilities as leader of the world’s more than one billion Catholics. I suspect Pope Francis would agree with you. If you (or anyone) doesn’t agree with what I say in a homily, let me know. I may be wrong. If so, I can learn. On the other hand, you may be wrong and you can learn. But, at least, we’ll get to know each other’s positions better. Thanks for writing.” Fr. Mike Visitation of Our Lady School is hosting an End of School Bake Sale after all Masses THIS WEEKEND!!! All proceeds will benefit VOL School and Improvements!
