Do you think God ever feels that way about us ? He gives us everything - including our very lives - because He loves us more than we can imagine . Yet we freely accept and enjoy His gifts without even acknowledging Him or inviting Him into our lives to share the joy we get from those gifts . We wait until we have done everything we deem important in our day before we even think about God . But by then , we are too exhausted to give Him our undivided attention .
We pay our bills , go out to dinner , maybe a movie or a concert , buy a couple of gifts , and maybe a new outfit . Then , if there is anything LEFT , we throw a bit of it in the collection basket at church . We literally give God our leftovers . Scraps ! The bottom of the barrel ! Our words say that we love God with all our hearts , but our actions say otherwise .
Why should we give to God first ? Why should we start our days talking to God ? Why should we give God the very best parts of our time ? Our skills ? Our wages ? Are we afraid that if we give too much to Him , that we won ’ t have enough left for ourselves ?
If Sandy ’ s parents found out that she was in need of food or clothing , or even a place to live , do we doubt that they would jump at the chance to give her what she needed - and more ? Imagine how very much more God can bless us .
It ’ s time we truly begin trusting in God with our families , our possessions , our money , our very lives ! We wouldn ’ t have any of it without Him .
