Good Stewards Know God Loves
Us To Pieces
We all kind of take for granted that God loves us. A lot!
However, I suspect we don’t really have a good grasp of the depth of
God’s love for us. So, I will share with you a story I recently shared
with the pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students at VOL. It was a
story that could have upset little children, but it didn’t. They got the
moral of the story. The depth of God’s love for us is so great, it just
doesn’t make sense to us mortals. So, let us, as Jesus requires, be
like little children and understand the way the youngest of our VOL
students did the infinite depth of God’s love for us.
We all sin, right? Sure. That’s a no-brainer. So, we all need
forgiveness. Also a no-brainer. And, of course, that forgiveness
comes from our God. And, that raises another question. How? How
did God forgive us?
God could have forgiven our sins by sending us a Facebook
message from heaven. He could have tweeted us. He could have
done it, if he had chosen to do so, simply by wishing, in the quiet of
his divine mind, that it be done. Any and every act of God has
infinite value. But, we know God did not forgive our sins in any of
the ways I just mentioned.
I believe the most famous verse in the Bible is John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that
everyone who believes in him might not perish but have eternal life.”
