Cooperation with the CIS countries is keeping its
actuality. Uzbekistan considers the CIS as coordinating mechanism for multi-aspect interaction and
platform for direct communication and interstate
dialogue, including bilateral contacts within the CIS
between Heads of states and relevant authorities,
and also as the entity of sovereign states motivated
to create conditions for multilateral cooperation.
Uzbekistan established mutually beneficial cooperation with Muslim countries in the Asian Near and
Middle-East regions. These countries are spiritually,
culturally and traditionally close to Uzbekistan.
A positive dynamic has been created through the
development of political, economic and cultural
relations with these countries.
Multilateral cooperation within international
organizations. The cooperation aimed preservation of regional and global peace and stability is
one of the main priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign
policy. I this context, active participation in the
work of international and regional organizations
such as UN, OSCE, SCO and others is meet to the
interests of Uzbekistan.
Cooperation within UN. The republic of Uzbekistan
became a member of the United Nations on March 2,
1992 at the 46th Session of the General Assembly of
the UN. During the last 25 years close contacts and
Uzbekistan fruitfully cooperates with the UN and
its specialized agencies in various areas. An important event became a participation of the President
of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Millennium
Development Goals plenary, which was held in
September 2010 in New York.

To date, the Republic of Uzbekistan has established
diplomatic relations with 21 countries of North and
South America. Cooperation of Uzbekistan with
USA is one of the priorities of foreign policy of the
republic, which is also reflected in the Concept of
Foreign Policy of Uzbekistan. Current Uzbek-American relations have complex, long-term and multidimensional nature.
