SPANISH AMBASSADORS

The Spanish Ambassadors program is a group dedicated to serving the Spanish-speaking population in Cache Valley including translating

at schools, health fairs and university events.

During the 2013-2014 school year, the program worked with over 20 schools to translate at the parent-teacher conferences held twice a year.

Additionally, the Spanish Ambassadors program translated for a speech and hearing program at Utah State University and worked with a local Hispanic health advoacy group. The program worked to present college access and awareness activities with Latinos in Action and the Latino Student Union. Starting in 2014, fluency in the Spanish language will be required.

STUDENTS TEACHING ARTHIMETIC AND READING (STAR)

The Students Teaching Arithmetic and Reading (STAR) program is designed for USU students to give one-on-one tutoring inreading and math to elementary students throughout Cache Valley.

In 2013,2014- STAR partnered with seven local elementary schools. Of these 7 schools, 6 were designated as Title I schools. Approximately, 310 students and 28 teachers were served. Also, a new partnership was formed with the Level I student teaching program of the College of Education.
