Cancer Center Adds Development Staff
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center has recently
added two new staff members to its Office of Development and
Community Relations.
Joining the group as senior director of development is Lisa
Roth, who brings more than 30 years of development experience
to the Cancer Center. Prior to joining UAB, Mrs. Roth was a
national senior vice president at the American Cancer Society,
where she developed high-level initiatives and best practices at
local, regional and national levels. For the Cancer Center, she
will oversee all development and fundraising initiatives, including
the center’s major gift efforts. Mrs. Roth is a graduate of the
University of Alabama.
Also joining the Cancer Center is Melissa Juliano Donaldson,
who comes on board as manager of corporate development and
special events. She will be responsible for managing the center’s
various fundraising events, including the annual ArtBLINK
Gala and Fiesta Ball, as well as serving as the liaison between the
Cancer Center and its Advisory and Young Supporters Boards.
She will also work closely with development staff in recruiting
and cultivating corporate donors for the Cancer Center. Mrs.

Donaldson received her bachelor’s degree from the University
of Alabama and joins the center having previously served as an
events specialist in the UAB Events Office.
Cancer Center Hosts PaintFest
In partnership with the Foundation for Hospital Art, the UAB Comprehensive Cancer
Center hosted PaintFest America on July 14 at UAB Hospital. Patients, families and staff
stopped by throughout the morning to paint different colorful panels for three large murals
that will ultimately hang in the hospital. The event was part of a larger nationwide tour
encouraging cancer patients and survivors to contribute to artwork that gives comfort and
love. Cancer Center director Ed Partridge, M.D., even lent his artistic expertise!
