Cancer Center Honors Soong
Family
The UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center
recently unveiled the Seng-jaw and Mayhue
Soong Clinical Studies Unit at the Wallace
Tumor Institute. Seng-jaw Soong, Ph.D., was
the founding director of the Cancer Center’s
biostatistics unit and was instrumental in the
center’s early growth and success. Under his
leadership, the biostatistics unit grew into
an internationally renowned program. The
Cancer Center hosted a reception in April
to recognize Dr. Soong’s contributions and
achievements in the field of cancer research
and unveil a bronze bust honoring him for
his work at the center.
