Your retirement plan
If you ask someone how much money they will need for retirement, they will
often pluck a figure from the air or say they don’t know – it is simply too far off.
Ask them a year later and the answer is usually the
same, as they won’t have changed their mind – or
their plans.
We can’t predict what is going to happen in the
future, but we generally make provisions to protect
ourselves. Insurance for our car and house may be
compulsory, but we insure our phones, our pets and
ourselves in case we lose our job due to poor health
or redundancy.
Very few of us will simply down tools and take off on
holiday. We generally plan it – with military precision
– despite the fact it only lasts a couple of weeks.
