An aquarium, a planetarium and a natural
history museum are all under one roof at the
California Academy of Sciences. It’s located
in Golden Gate Park and newly remodeled
with an “inside-out” design.
The academy’s Steinhart Aquarium is
one of the most biodiverse aquariums in the
world, housing more than 40,000 animals.
Ongoing exhibits include the Philippine Coral
Reef, California Coast, The Swamp and
Osher Rainforest.
At the Kimball Natural History Museum,
students can watch scientists work on
specimen imaging and DNA extractions in a
research laboratory, learn about evolution and
tectonic plates, and walk beneath towering
skeletons of some of the planet’s largest
creatures.
The attraction’s Morrison Planetarium
houses a 75-foot dome screen that projects
virtual galax
