SAN FRANCISCO The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will debut the results of its recent expansion when it reopens May 14. More items from its internationally recognized collection of more than 30,000 works will be on display in the new areas, which were part of the renovation that more than doubled the size of the attraction. Thanks to the expansion, visitors will be able to see the recently acquired Doris and Donald Fisher Collection, which is one of the greatest private collections of contemporary art in the world. At the new Pritzker Center for Photography, students will be able to view thousands of iconic images in what will be the largest space in an American art museum dedicated to photography. Other additions include an outdoor sculpture terrace featuring a vertical garden with more than 16,000 native plants, the new Koret Education Center, a white box theater space, a two-story conservation center and a new restaurant. Additionally, the museum will offer a number of specialized tours and hands-on experiences for school groups.
