Tribe Report W2016 | Page 3

If you feel like you haven’t seen The Tribe Report in a while, it’s because our most recent issue was over a year ago. Our original intent when we started the magazine back in the fall of 2011 was to produce a new issue quarterly. We’ve published 10 previous issues in five years, so maybe we should shift our ambitions to twice a year. Clients come first, however, and they’ve been keeping Tribe busy. In 2016 alone, we’ve worked with more than 20 clients, ranging from global giants like GE and W. L. Gore to smaller organizations like the Ford Foundation and David Yurman. We also spent some time exploring new technology for client projects, from SharePoint alternatives (see Toolbox on page 18 for two we recommend) to platforms that take digital magazines into a more dynamic dimension. We’ve used our favorite of those platforms to produce this issue of The Tribe Report. The theme of this issue is culture, and we’ve got a great lineup of your peers in companies that excel in this area. Our Best Practices article features The Container Store and their belief in the power of great employees. It’s probably no coincidence that The Container Store has appeared on the Fortune Best Companies to Work For® List for 17 straight years. Our Spotlight article this issue is on DoubleTree by Hilton (also on this year’s Fortune Best Companies list) and the mobile solution they’ve developed to share culture and connect team members around the world — including all those hospitality workers who are busy doing everything but sitting in front of computers. One of the things I love about our business is how vastly the culture can differ from one company to another. Although at Tribe we see the same issues and challenges over and over across brands and even industries, what works for one culture may not be right for another. That keeps fresh challenges coming our way, day after day. WINTER 2016 TRIBE VOLUME 6 • ISSUE 1 What is Tribe? We’re so glad you asked.
