Well, there we have it. As
previously mentioned, any
regular follower of Pro Guitar
Shop’s demos could probably
have guessed at least a few of
the albums that would make an
appearance in Andy’s Top Ten.
Watch any five of his videos at
random and you’re likely to hear
a musical quote from a record on
this list, or maybe even a whole
song. When Andy Martin picks
up a guitar, these albums
practically ooze out from his
fingertips onto the fretboard.
If there is a lesson to be gleaned
from Andy’s insightful words
and crucial album selections, it is
probably something like, “Don’t
neglect the classics. And if you
want to grow up to be a great
rock-n-roll guitar player, you
better learn to play along with live
albums.” With that in mind, I urge
you to strap on your guitar right
now, crank up the hi-fi, and hit the
woodshed. Don’t come out until
you can play “2112” note-for-note!
“When I think about what
influenced me as a guitar
player, I go back
to the early ‘90s.”
-Andy Martin,
