breathing Dracarys. It
even does some great
lower-gain overdrive
sounds, but come on,
there’s no reason to
do that - this thing is
supposed to be cranked
up. In Open mode with
high Mid settings, there
are old school sounds
as well as more modern
ones depending on the
amount of distortion.
In Tight mode, with
scooped mids, you have
all the modern molten
metal you could ever
need, especially when
combined with your
favorite high
gain amplifier.
One of the great things
about the Dracarys is its
ability to meld with your
other dirt pedals—it is
capable of exceptional
stacking. You don’t need
to combine it with other
pedals if you don’t want
to, as it has plenty of
distortion on its own,
but the Open-Tight
switch and the excellent
EQ section makes it very
easy to combine with
other dirt boxes. In fact,
one of my favorite tones
was dialing in a low-
gain, mid-heavy drive
sound and placing it
after a bright sounding
fuzz. This gave me a
sweet, liquid, infinite
sustain that was high-
gain without sounding
cheesy or over the top.
If you’re looking to melt
faces, but you want to
keep everything about
your tone that you love
intact, make it a point
to try the Dracarys. Its
thoughtfully designed
EQ section and
monstrous distortion
capabilities make it a
stompbox that is worthy
of taking into battle.
You will lay down your
enemies with your
thunderous riffs, and
people all across the
land will know not to
accost you, as you can
send fire from your
axe when you deem it
necessary. Awesome
pedal? Check. Superb
components and
build quality? Check.
Sweetness name and
graphics? Check. Get
yourself a Dracarys
and get to rocking, but
try not to turn the fire
on yourself—you can’t
make any music as a
smoldering pile
of ashes.
WHAT WE LIKE
Fire-breathing high
gain tones with depth
and clarity. EQ section
and Open-Tight switch
allows it to stack well
with other dirt boxes.
Cool name and graphics.
