DSP and dynamic tone mapping is just the beginning and who knows of what our favorite tone generators will be capable in the decades to come . Someday , they may not want to be stepped on anymore . As they get more and more intelligent , our roles might swap — the pedal will play the player . There is brilliance in this anti-discipline . Sound voyagers such as Eno and John Foxx have been exploring this for years stating that they are most inspired when they are not quite in control of the machines . I can relate .
