The putting surfaces are showing signs of recovery and improved health, however, they are not healthy enough, nor are they ready for, the planned summer cultural practices ahead. Health and nutrition will now be the focus. As the surfaces respond to the applied nutrition, the muchneeded growth will slightly slow down the ball roll. The Tiburón maintenance team’s efforts are geared towards elevating your experience and there is no question our current practices will enhance this experience moving forward. A strong putting green produces opportunity and flexibility with the playability of the golf course. Currently, the opportunity and flexibility is not quite there, however, we plan to instill it. Meet Your Golf Course Maintenance Team Cale Priddy is originally from Reidsville, NC, where he began spending his summers maintaining golf courses at the age of 17. While completing a Turf Grass/Golf Course Management Curriculum at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst, NC, he worked at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, located in historic Southern Pines, NC, where he assisted in hosting a U.S. Women’s Open. Since gradutating in 2004, Cale has had stints at Clubs such as the Atlanta Athletic Club, John’s Creek, GA; Long Cove Club, Hilton Head Island, SC; The Savannah Golf Club; The Los Angeles Country Club; and recently the Old Edwards Club in Highlands, NC. He joined the Tiburón family in March 2014. David Vastola grew up in Buffalo, NY, where golfing with his grandfather helped develop an early appreciation for the game. He attended the University of Buffalo, playing lacrosse before pursuing a career in Golf Course Management. In December 2012, he graduated top of his class with a bachelor’s degree in Turf Grass Management from the State University of New York at Cobleskill. While attending college, he was a student intern at The Los Angeles Country Club, who later hired him as an Apprentice Superintendent. Under the tutelage of Russ Myers and Kirk Richmond, he developed the necessary skills to progress in turf grass management. He joined the team at Tiburón Golf Club in March 2014. Nick Walters is originally from Minneapolis, MN, and attended the University of Minnesota where he received a degree in Turf Grass Management. Nick’s journey into this business was through his passion for the golf industry, along with golf course maintenance experience and his love of the outdoors. He has been at Tiburón since March 2014. Prior to arriving in Naples, he was Apprentice Superintendent at The Los Angeles Country Club for two years. Prior to serving at LACC, he participated in internships at Medina Country Club, Medina, MN; Wood Hill Country Club, Wayzata MN; and Innis Arden Golf Club, Old Greenwich, CT. Ryan Sherbert began working on golf courses at the age of 15 with a summer position that continued each year through high school and several years of college. He was born in Denver, CO, spent his early years in Naples, and his school years in Eden Prairie, MN. Ryan studied Golf Enterprise Management at the University of Wisconsin - Stout and Environmental Sciences at Florida Gulf Coast University. Ryan has worked at a number of prestigious golf courses including Hazeltine National Golf Club, Chaska, MN; TPC Twin Cities, Blaine, MN; Edina Country Club, Edina, MN; Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Course, Aurora, CO; and Roaring Fork Club, Basalt, CO. He has been at Tiburón Golf Club for two years and is honored to serve in his current position of Assistant Superintendent.
