May Day! May Day!
That’s right! It’s May and we are all looking forward to the
April rains moving on and the May fl owers painting the
roadsides. May brings many great things to our states.
From the International Women’s Ride Day to Motorcycle
Safety Month, it’s time to ride!
This month, I’m very pleased to bring you a story of
family and vintage riding. Guy Cooper, star of the high
fl ying Supercross of the 80’s and 90’s, also known as
“Airtime” for his hang time and high jumps, won numerous
National Championships. Being raised on bicycles and
motorcycles, his love for the sport grew into a profession.
He still rides vintage races around the United States and
has recently created a motorcycle journey that may be
his favorite of all times. Please be sure to read the Cover
Bike Article and the Honeymoon Trip of a Lifetime to see
what Guy and his family will be doing to commemorate his
family of riders this Memorial Day weekend.
Don’t miss the opportunity to ask others to ride with you
this month. Making friends on the open road is a way to
make friends that last a lifetime. I challenge each of you to
take a rider’s safety course to sharpen your skills. There
are several offered in the state. Many are free. Or take
the one which will allow you to get your “M” endorsement
upon completion of the MSF basic rider’s course. The key
is to ride safe and watch out for those who aren’t watching
out for you.
Get out and ride! Make every day on the road count!
