FEATURES and make things happen .
TRM OK / AR : Will it feature the same AMA Classes that ran last year ?
A lot has changed with AMA Pro Flat Track Racing since they were at the OKC MILE last year . The series has not only changed names ( American Flat Track ), but the class structure has been modified . This year there are two classes again but they are known as “ Twins ”, and “ Singles ”. The Twins class is the premier riders on those amazing V & Parallel Twin race machines just like last year . The big change is in the Singles class as they will be competing on production based 450cc single
cylinder race bikes . This was done to make the sport much more marketable to the OEM ’ s ( motorcycle manufacturers ). I ’ ve not personally seen 450 ’ s on mile race tracks but I ’ m told the racing is amazing as they are all so equal . I ’ m anxiously waiting for the first AFT mile this year on May 13 in Arizona to see how good it is ! We know the Twins racing is going to be good and to date we ’ ve seen a real battle developing between the all new Indian Wrecking Crew and the three man Factory Harley Davidson Team . You won ’ t want to miss seeing these guys and all of the privateer racers duking it out come June 17th .
TRM OK / AR : You ’ re taking this series to Texas . Can you tell us a bit about what is happening with those races and what can be expected there ?
In an effort to get American Flat Track Racing revitalized in the central part of the country we ’ ve stepped out and put together round 17 of the AFT series at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track just outside Ft Worth Texas . The event is the Inaugural Lone Star National 1 / 2 Mile on September 23rd . Obviously the facility there at the Speedway is second to none and is almost a duplicate layout wise to the Charlotte NC Dirt track . Based on the racing action at Charlotte fans are going to be in for a real treat watching these AFT
