Dastar is a cotton woven fabric, and many
families in Uzumlu make their living by
weaving the fabric on these looms and
making it into tablecloths, scarves and
clothing.

The traditional family would always have
a kilim or knotted rug strung to their
loom, inside in winter, it would travel up to
the summer pastures where mother and
daughter would sit outside to weave their home-dyed
wools into bright symbolic dowry rugs…..a real heirloom!
